Portuguese bridles
The Portuguese bridle on the left hand side of the above image is adapted from
a print from 1790 included in the book “Luz da Liberal, e Nobre Arte da
Cavallaria ” by Manoel Carlos de Andrade which is a record from the Portuguese
bridles in use at the time. The Portuguese bridle on the right hand side of the above image is a bridle made nowadays. Both have traditional Portuguese buckles. Today the
traditional Portuguese bridles such as the Portuguese bridle and the Baroque
bridle are made in a very similar way to the XVIII century models. These
bridles are handmade in Portugal and most of the materials are the same as the ones used at
the time. Apart from these models Portuguese innovation on saddle-making has
also developed combined models such as the combined Portuguese-English bridles
and the combined Portuguese-German bridle. The Portuguese bridles below are from the Lusitano brand and you can follow the links to find more information about them. If you would like to buy one of these Portuguese bridles they are on sale at our online shop in the sub-category Portuguese bridles.
